BFT hinge and roller replacement in Las Vegas typically runs $185 – $420 installed for most residential BFT slide and swing gate models, and our trucks carry the common sizes so we can usually complete the swap same day. Most owners call us after noticing the gate has started dragging, squealing, or leaning slightly at the hinge line, often a slow decline that suddenly becomes impossible to ignore. We’re an independent gate repair specialist, not a BFT dealer, which means we match the part to your gate rather than pushing a brand line. The failure is rarely mysterious: heat, grit, and daily open-close cycles in Las Vegas wear rollers down until the gate tracks against the frame instead of rolling smoothly over it.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
BFT puts its name on a wide range of residential and light-commercial gate systems, and the hinge and roller configuration depends entirely on whether you have a sliding gate or a swing gate. For BFT sliding gate kits (common models include the DEIMOS, PHOBOS, and the heavy ARES series), the roller assemblies are the load-bearing workhorses: steel or nylon rollers on sealed bearings, riding steel track. For BFT swing gate operators, the hinges are structural, carrying the entire gate panel weight while the operator arm does the pushing. The compatibility gotcha we see constantly: BFT sliding gate frames sold in the US market often use 4-inch or 6-inch roller brackets with a 20mm or 25mm bearing bore, and getting that measurement wrong means the roller binds within weeks. Before you order anything, look for the silver riveted data plate on the gate frame or motor housing. It lists the model and series number, and we can match the part from a photo of that plate in about two minutes.
OEM BFT hinge and roller parts are well made, but they’re not the only option. Quality aftermarket equivalents from US suppliers often match or exceed the bearing spec at 60 – 70% of the OEM price. What we won’t do is bolt on a cheap zinc roller from an online discounter, because in Las Vegas heat the zinc swells, the bearing cage fractures, and you’re calling us again in eight months. For BFT specifically, if the gate is over 12 feet or the panel is steel, we almost always recommend upgrading to a sealed-bearing roller with a nylon or polyurethane wheel rather than bare steel, regardless of what came from the factory.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your BFT Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing
- Gate drags or shudders as it opens. The roller wheel has flat-spotted or the bearing has seized, so the gate frame is now sliding on metal-on-metal contact. The shudder is the motor pushing through extra resistance it wasn’t designed for.
- High-pitched squeal or grinding from the track area. This is the bearing running dry or failing internally, and by the time you hear it clearly, the roller is usually shot. Lubricating it now won’t reverse the wear.
- Gate leans visibly to one side when fully open. This one is serious and often means a hinge pin or roller bracket has worn oval, allowing the panel to drop. Do not run the gate like this; the motor keeps pulling against a misaligned load until something snaps.
- One side of the gate sits lower than the other. For a swing gate, a hinge leaf that has pulled away from the post or a pin that has sheared will drop the panel. The BFT operator will keep cycling, but every cycle is digging the misalignment deeper.
- You hear a hard “thunk” at the end of travel. The roller has left the track or the hinge has enough slop that the gate panel shifts forward at the stop point. That impact gets transmitted backward into the operator gearbox, and it will wreck the motor over time.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Las Vegas, expect to pay $185 – $420 for BFT hinge or roller replacement, parts and labor included. The spread is driven by four things: the size of the gate, whether it’s a slide or a swing, whether the damaged part is a single roller or an entire hinge set, and whether the track or post has also warped from the load. A simple single roller swap on a standard 10-foot slide gate might run $185 – $240. Replacing a full hinge set with post reinforcement on a 14-foot steel swing gate can push past $400. You’ll get a written quote before any work starts, and the number on the invoice matches the number we agreed on. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the replacement fails within 365 days, Calder returns and fixes it at no charge, with no fine print about “normal wear.” That promise is written on every job ticket.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check two things without opening a toolbox: look at the roller wheels for flat spots or wobble, and push the gate manually (with the operator in manual release) to feel for binding or drag at specific points along the track. That tells you whether the issue is one roller, a hinge, or the track itself. What you should not do is remove a hinge pin or unbolt a roller bracket under a loaded gate panel. A 400-pound gate that slips while a hinge is out will do the kind of damage that hospital waiting rooms are made of. The bearing sleeves also need to be pressed or driven square, and we’ve been called after enough DIY attempts to know exactly what “off by a few millimeters” does to a new roller in three weeks. If you’re in Las Vegas and the gate is dragging, call us at (725) 220-0280. Tell us what it’s doing, or not doing, and we’ll figure the rest out from there.
FAQs
In Las Vegas heat, expect 4 – 7 years from a quality roller on a daily-use sliding gate, and 8 – 12 years from well-maintained swing gate hinges. The desert specifics that shorten life here are dust intrusion into the bearing seals and thermal expansion of the metal on aluminum-framed gates, which is a genuine problem in Summerlin and Henderson where full afternoon sun loads the track. If your gate runs 20+ cycles a day, lean toward the shorter end. Call us at (725) 220-0280 and we’ll assess your specific setup for free.
Rollers are almost never repairable, because once the bearing fails, the wheel and the bore are both compromised and rebuilding is more labor than a new part. Hinges can sometimes be saved by replacing just the pin and bushing, but only if the hinge leaves haven’t wallowed. The honest answer: if the hinge has existed on a misaligned gate for more than a month, the metal has moved, and tightening it back onto a worn post is a temporary fix. We’ll tell you which one you have before quoting anything.
Most BFT hinge or roller replacements on residential gates take 60 – 90 minutes per hinge or roller set, assuming the track and post are still straight. A full set replacement on a large swing gate can run up to three hours because we also re-square the panel and reset the operator limits so the motor isn’t fighting the new geometry. You’ll know the exact time when we arrive, and before-and-after photos are included in your digital invoice.
We stock the common BFT roller sizes and hinge pin sets on our Las Vegas service vehicles, along with compatible parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls for the times a gate has mixed-brand hardware. Unusual sizes or commercial-series BFT parts may need a 24 – 48 hour order window, and we’ll tell you that upfront rather than making you wait on a vague “we’ll get back to you.”
If your BFT gate is dragging, leaning, or making noise that started small and is getting worse, call (725) 220-0280. We’ll get you a free estimate with a written price, a real arrival time you can track, and a repair that’s backed for 365 days. Nico Alvarez and the Calder Gate Repair Las Vegas team have been fixing gates across the valley for years, from Summerlin driveways to commercial entries near the Strip, and we stock the BFT parts so you don’t have to. Call now and get it done before the Nevada summer does any more damage.
