Most BFT keypad and intercom repairs in Las Vegas run between $140 and $420 installed, depending on whether we’re swapping the keypad, the intercom module, or just the corroded wiring between them. We stock BFT-compatible keypads and intercom parts on the truck, so a typical swap takes under an hour and we can often have it done the same day you call. The way most owners discover the failure is simple: the keypad lights up but the gate won’t move, or the intercom buzzes but nobody can hear you on the other end.
Here’s the reality of Las Vegas: our summers destroy keypads faster than almost anywhere else in the country. Direct sun exposure on a west-facing gate pillar bakes the membrane buttons until they crack. Dust from a single haboob gets inside the housing and compromises the circuit board. And a hard monsoon rain after three months of zero moisture finds every hairline gap in an aging gasket. Most BFT keypads fail from weather intrusion before they ever fail from use, which is why the replacement part you choose matters almost as much as the install itself.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
BFT has been building opener systems since the 1980s, and their keypad lineup is tighter than most brands. The two we see most often in Las Vegas are the BFT MITTO series (the compact radio keypad, usually silver or white) and the BFT EBP/CTR line, which is the hardwired flush-mount keypad with brushed metal front. If you have a BFT Deimos, Phobos, or Virgo gate opener, you’re almost certainly running one of these two keypad styles, with the MITTO being the more common retrofit across Las Vegas driveways.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha that catches people: BFT keypads are not one-size-fits-all. The MITTO keypad sold for sliding gate openers uses a different frequency pairing procedure than the one matched to swing gate models, and buying the wrong revision means the keypad will power on but never sync to your receiver. Look for the frequency label on the back, typically 433.92 MHz for North American BFT residential units, and note your opener’s exact model number before ordering anything. We carry OEM BFT keypads as well as a quality aftermarket equivalent that we’ve tested through three consecutive Las Vegas summers without a membrane failure. We’re an independent repair company and not affiliated with BFT, but we’ve installed enough of their equipment to know which parts hold up and which are a waste of your money.

Signs Your BFT Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
Keypads and intercoms rarely die instantly. They fade, and the warning signs are usually there weeks before a total failure.
- The keypad beeps but the gate won’t move. This is almost always a sync failure between the keypad’s radio transmitter and the receiver inside your BFT control board. Sometimes it’s a simple re-pair; other times the capacitor on the keypad board has degraded to the point where it can beep but can’t generate a strong enough signal. In Las Vegas, heat-soaked circuit boards fail this way all the time.
- You have to press buttons harder than you used to. The membrane under the keypad face has started to break down, either from UV exposure or from dust working its way under the edge. Once the tactile layer goes, the keypad will eventually register a double-press on single digits, locking you out with a code error.
- The intercom rings but the audio is garbled or one-way. The BFT intercom module has a small speaker and microphone in the exterior station. Dust and monsoon moisture corrode the contacts on the back side of that module, and once corrosion starts, the audio degrades quickly. Vegas static through the handset is our most common intercom complaint in the spring.
- The keypad works intermittently, especially in the afternoon heat. This is a semiconductor problem. BFT boards use components rated to certain temperatures, and when direct afternoon sun pushes the housing past that rating, the board behaves erratically. If your keypad works in the morning but not at 4 p.m., it’s not a battery issue; it’s a heat-failure warning.
- The exterior intercom station feels warm or smells faintly of burnt plastic. That’s a shorted speaker coil or a failing capacitor. Unplug or disconnect that intercom at the breaker before it damages the BFT control board, which is a far more expensive repair.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For BFT keypad replacement in Las Vegas, most jobs land between $140 and $280 for a standard MITTO-compatible swap. Intercom module repair or replacement runs $180 to $420 depending on whether we’re replacing just the exterior station or also the in-home handset and wiring. Parts account for roughly half of that, with the rest being the service call, install, and pairing. The number you get over the phone is the number on your invoice: we quote a flat price for the specific part and the labor before we start, and that price doesn’t change at the door.
| BFT Repair Type | Typical Las Vegas Installed Price |
|---|---|
| Keypad swap (MITTO-compatible) | $140 – $280 |
| Hardwired EBP/CTR keypad replacement | $220 – $380 |
| Intercom exterior station repair | $180 – $320 |
| Full intercom module + handset replacement | $280 – $420 |
| Wire trace & corroded lead replacement | $90 – $180 |
Every BFT keypad and intercom repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair fails within 365 days, Calder returns at no charge. That’s not a warranty phrase we throw around; it’s a written guarantee on every job. You’ll also get a written price before any work starts, and a live arrival time you can track so you’re not waiting through a four-hour window.
DIY or Call Us?
There are two things you can safely check yourself before calling. First, confirm the keypad has power. If it’s a hardwired unit, check your breaker and the low-voltage transformer. If it’s a battery MITTO, pop in fresh batteries and attempt the pairing sequence from your BFT manual. Second, clear any visible dust or debris from the keypad edges with a dry cloth. That’s the extent of safe DIY territory.
What you should not attempt is opening the keypad housing or the intercom module. These run on low-voltage DC in most BFT configurations, but you’re working with circuit boards that can short against metal housings, and the screws and gaskets exist for weather sealing. One improper re-seal means the next monsoon kills the new part too. If the keypad is warm, crackling, or showing signs of moisture intrusion, stop and call us at (725) 220-0280. Tell me what it’s doing, or not doing, and we’ll figure the rest out from there.
FAQs
A properly sealed BFT keypad in a shaded or north-facing install typically lasts 5 to 7 years in Las Vegas, while a west-facing unshaded keypad often fails in 3 to 4 years due to UV and heat stress. Sun exposure is the single biggest lifespan factor we see, and a simple shade or hood can add two years to a keypad. Call (725) 220-0280 and we’ll tell you if your keypad’s location is shortening its life.
Sometimes yes, specifically when the issue is corroded wiring, a loose connector, or a sync failure we can resolve through re-pairing, but if the membrane is cracked or the board shows heat damage, replacement is the reliable fix. We’ll diagnose it honestly and show you the part before we quote the repair. Estimates are free, and the price is agreed before work starts.
A standard BFT keypad replacement takes about 45 to 60 minutes on site, while a full intercom module replacement runs 60 to 90 minutes depending on wiring conditions. We bring the common BFT and aftermarket parts on the truck so there’s no second appointment. Call (725) 220-0280 for a live, trackable arrival time today.
We stock BFT MITTO and EBP/CTR compatible keypads, intercom modules, and the related wiring connectors on our Las Vegas service vehicles, along with stock for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls systems. If your specific BFT series requires a factory part we don’t have on board, we’ll have it ordered and scheduled for a second visit within days. Call (725) 220-0280 with your model number and we’ll confirm what’s in stock.
