BFT Welding & Fabrication: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide

If your BFT gate has a cracked weld, a snapped bracket, or a hinge that’s torn loose from the post, we stock and install BFT-compatible welding and fabrication parts across Las Vegas. Most BFT weld-and-fabrication repairs here run between $225 and $485 installed, depending on whether we’re reinforcing an existing weld or fabricating a new bracket or mount from scratch. When a weld fails on a BFT gate, you usually notice it as a sagging gate leaf, a grinding noise where the hinge meets the post, or a gate that shudders instead of gliding. Left alone, a broken weld turns into a bent track, a fried motor, and a gate that won’t close at all. We can usually get to you the same day you call, and we bring the welder with us.

Calder Gate Repair Las Vegas is an independent gate repair specialist, not a BFT factory outlet. Nico Alvarez and our crew have years of hands-on time with BFT gear, including weld repairs on BFT slide gates, swing gate hinges, and the mounting plates that hold BFT motors and rams in place.

Which BFT Models This Applies To

BFT welding and fabrication covers a good range of the brand’s lineup, but the specifics matter. The most common models we see in Las Vegas needing weld work are BFT Deimos, BFT Phobos, BFT Kustos, and the BFT Igor line. Slide gates in that family ride on steel tracks and wear plates that eventually fatigue from heat cycling and road dust. Swing gate owners usually find us after a hinge weld cracks, especially on the top hinge of a heavy gate where the weight and the Las Vegas heat work against the metal day after day.

Before you call, take one photo of the gate nameplate or the motor housing label. BFT stamps model info on a plate near the motor itself, usually on the inside of the chassis or the cover. Look for the series name, the voltage rating, and the manufacturing year. If the plate is gone or faded, measure the gate leaf weight and length as best you can. Older BFT Deimos slide gates, for example, run lighter tracks than newer Phobos models, and we stock two different track profiles to match. On the OEM-or-aftermarket question for BFT specifically: we use factory BFT brackets and mounts when they’re available and priced sanely. For weld-on hinge re-fabrication and custom mounting plates, we fabricate in our Las Vegas shop to the same or better spec, because BFT doesn’t sell every bracket on its own and ordering one from Italy can take two weeks. We’ll tell you which path makes sense before any welding starts.

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

  • Sagging gate leaf, especially on the latch side. The gate leans low on the end furthest from the hinges. The underlying cause is almost always a top hinge weld stretching or cracking. The gate still opens, but every cycle adds strain to the bottom hinge and the motor. Over time that sag pulls the operator out of alignment and shortens motor life.
  • Grinding or creaking from the hinge area. You hear metal-on-metal noise that changes with the gate’s position, not its speed. That’s the sound of a cracked weld flexing under load. Weld cracks don’t heal, and lubrication only masks the noise for a day or two. A cracked weld keeps propagating until the hinge tears free entirely.
  • Visible hairline cracks around weld joints. Get a flashlight and look at the weld itself. If you see a thin dark line running through the weld bead or along the edge where the weld meets the gate frame, that’s a fatigue crack. Las Vegas temperature swings from 40-degree winter nights to 110-degree summer days expand and contract steel at the weld seam, and this is exactly where it shows first.
  • Gate shudders or hops while opening or closing. The gate jerks like it’s fighting something even though the track looks clear. A busted wheel bracket or a welded-on track mount that’s broken loose makes the gate bind mid-travel. The motor working harder doesn’t clear the bind; it just overheats and trips the thermal overload.
  • Motor mount plate visibly flexing. Watch the BFT motor while the gate cycles. If the motor housing shifts or rocks on its bolts, the weld holding the mounting plate to the concrete pad or steel post has failed. An unsecured motor eats gears and strips the rack teeth, turning a $285 weld job into a $900 motor replacement.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Las Vegas, BFT weld repair and fabrication work breaks into three realistic bands. A simple crack repair and re-weld on an existing hinge or bracket runs $225 to $340. A full hinge or bracket replacement, where we cut out the old piece, fabricate a new one, and weld it in, runs $340 to $485. If the damage includes the track or the rack mount on a slide gate, you’re looking at $425 to $650 because we’re aligning and welding multiple points and re-tensioning the gate balance. These are installed prices including our welder time, steel stock, grinding, and paint to match the existing finish. The written price you get before we start includes everything. No surprise line items.

Every weld and fabrication job we do carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a weld we made fails within 365 days, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing on your invoice, not something we mention offhand. On BFT work near the Las Vegas Strip and in Summerlin, where gates cycle hundreds of times a day, a weld that holds a residential gate in a quieter neighborhood fails much faster under that kind of duty cycle. We account for that when we quote.

DIY or Call Us?

Welding is the one part of gate repair where we tell nearly every Las Vegas homeowner to stop before they start. A gate hinge under tension holds several hundred pounds of steel, and a cracked weld can release that energy without warning. Beyond the immediate risk of a falling gate, a bad weld looks fine from the outside and fails under load, which is worse than no repair at all, because it fools you into thinking the gate is safe.

What you can safely do is inspect. Photograph the weld from three angles. Check whether the gate feels heavier on one side. Note whether the crack stays the same size all week or grows. That information helps us bring the right steel and the right plan. Nico puts it this way with BFT owners all across Las Vegas: “Tell me what it’s doing, or not doing, and we’ll figure the rest out from there.” The actual welding, cutting, and fabrication is our job. Call (725) 220-0280 and we’ll show up with a written price before any torch fires.
