We stock and install Linear-compatible welding and fabrication parts across Las Vegas, with most bracket, hinge, and gate frame repairs running $240 – $480 installed. If your Linear gate arm is sagging, a weld has cracked, or a mounting point tore loose, we can typically have a technician out same-day with the right steel, the right welder, and the right fix.
Most people discover this problem the hard way: the gate starts scraping, then binds, then refuses to close all the way. What actually happened underneath is a weld failed or a fabricated bracket twisted out of alignment. In Las Vegas, the heat and dust accelerate this. Fine grit works its way into every joint, and the constant temperature swings between 110°F days and 70°F nights cause metal to expand and contract daily. That repeated stress is what eventually cracks a weld on an older Linear gate.
We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Linear, but we work on their openers every week. Nico Alvarez has seen the same failure patterns often enough that we know which welds fail on which models before we even pull up to the driveway.
Which Linear Models This Applies To
Linear’s residential and light-commercial lines share a common weakness: the fabricated steel brackets and hinge points that mount the operator arm to the gate itself. This applies to the widely installed Linear LDO50, LSO50, and APeX series, as well as older OSCO models that Linear absorbed years ago. The part that fails isn’t always the operator itself. It’s the steel around it.
Before ordering or fabricating any part, you need to identify what’s actually broken. Look for a stamped label on the operator arm or control box. The model number is usually there. If the label is sun-blasted and unreadable (common in Las Vegas after a few summers), measure the gate’s weight and length. That tells us what gauge steel the bracket should be. Linear’s heavier-duty openers need a beefier mounting plate than the residential swing-arm versions. A bracket fabricated for an LSO50 won’t survive on a 400-pound gate running an APeX operator, even if it physically bolts on.
For most Linear models, we recommend OEM or OEM-spec steel when the part is a load-bearing bracket. Cosmetic covers and non-structural pieces can go aftermarket without issue. But when it’s the bracket holding your gate’s weight, saving $40 on thinner-gauge metal is a mistake you’ll pay for twice.

Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side. A cracked or bent upper hinge bracket drops the gate’s free end. The operator keeps pushing, but the geometry is off, which then accelerates wear on the chain or drive arm.
- You hear a metal-on-metal groan when the gate moves. That’s usually a failed weld allowing two surfaces to rub. Left alone, the friction damage spreads beyond the original crack and makes the eventual repair more involved.
- The gate jerks or shudders mid-travel. A broken weld on the operator mount means the arm flexes instead of transferring force cleanly. The gate pauses, then lurches as the operator fights its own mounting point.
- Visible rust streaks or cracked paint around welds. Surface rust is normal after a few Las Vegas summers. A rust line that follows a weld seam and won’t scrub off usually means moisture has worked into a micro-crack.
- The gate won’t close the last two inches. When a hinge or bracket shifts, the gate and the latch no longer line up. The limit switch (the sensor that tells the gate when to stop) is still working fine. The steel moved out from under it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Las Vegas, expect to pay $240 – $480 for most Linear welding and bracket repairs, parts included. Simple hinge re-welds sit at the low end. Full bracket replacement with custom-fabricated steel on a heavy gate lands at the top. Here’s how that breaks down:
- Basic weld repair: $140 – $220 (grind, re-weld, prime, and seal an existing crack)
- Hinge or bracket replacement with fabricated steel: $220 – $380 (cut out old, fabricate new, weld, align)
- Full operator mount rebuild on a heavy gate: $380 – $480 (multiple bracket points, alignment, travel adjustment)
Every price is quoted in writing before we touch your gate. The number on the invoice matches the number you agreed to at the door. Every weld and bracket we install is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not right, we come back and make it right at no charge within a year.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: look for visible cracks in the paint around welds, check if the gate scrapes the ground, and see whether the gate post itself is still plumb. Those observations help you describe the problem over the phone.
But welding on a gate that’s under tension from a Linear operator is not a weekend project. If the gate is still connected to the opener, the stored energy in the chain or arm can release when a weld fails. A gate that weighs 300 pounds doesn’t care how careful you’re being. Grinding and re-welding also needs the right amperage for the steel thickness, and Las Vegas dust means the repair has to be sealed properly or it rusts from the inside out. If you’re not set up for that, call (725) 220-0280 and describe what the gate’s doing. Tell me what it’s doing, or not doing, and we’ll figure the rest out from there.
FAQs
A properly fabricated and sealed bracket on a Linear opener typically lasts 10 to 15 years in Las Vegas, assuming the gate stays balanced and the opener’s force settings aren’t maxed out. Aftermarket brackets made from thinner steel often fail in 4 to 6 years simply because the material isn’t up to the job. Call (725) 220-0280 for an honest assessment of what’s on your gate now.
Yes, if the steel around the crack is still sound. We grind out the crack, re-weld it, and reinforce the area if the metal shows signs of fatigue. If the bracket is torn, twisted, or paper-thin from corrosion, repair is throwing good money after bad and we’ll tell you that directly. Either way, you get a written quote before work starts.
Most single-bracket welds and replacements take 2 to 3 hours on site. That includes cutting out the old steel, fabricating the replacement, welding it in, and adjusting the gate’s travel so it opens and closes smoothly. Heavier gates or multiple failed points can push toward half a day.
Yes. Our trucks carry steel plate, tube, and angle stock in the common gauges and sizes used on Linear gates, plus the consumables for onsite welding. We also stock common Linear-compatible replacement brackets and hinges. If the part needs to be custom fabricated for an oddball gate size, we do that onsite rather than making you wait a week for a special order. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls openers, so if your gate has mixed-brand hardware we can handle it in one trip.
If your Linear gate is sagging, scraping, or making noise it didn’t make last month, call (725) 220-0280. We’ll give you a straight answer, a written price, and a technician with a real arrival time you can track.
