Ghost Controls Access Control Installation: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide

If your Ghost Controls keypad, receiver, or vehicle sensor died, we stock the parts and can usually get you back online same day. A full access control installation on a Ghost Controls gate in Las Vegas typically runs $225 – $485 installed, depending on whether we’re swapping one component or wiring a new keypad, receiver, and vehicle loop from scratch. The most common call we get sounds like this: the remote works, but the keypad won’t respond, or the gate opens for cars but not for the code you’ve used for two years. You notice it when you’re stuck at the end of your driveway in 105-degree heat, punching a dead keypad while the gate just sits there.

Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To

Ghost Controls uses two main control board families: the AXPB series (found in most residential swing and slide gate kits sold since 2016) and the older GTO/PRO series boards that pop up on gates installed 10 – 15 years ago. Your access control parts, keypads, receivers, and vehicle-sensing probes, are not always interchangeable between them. The AXPB boards use a 4-pin accessory connector and 318 MHz receiver frequency. The older GTO boards run 318 MHz too, but the wiring harness is different, so a keypad from one generation will not plug into the other without a rewire.

Here’s the part most people don’t know: Ghost Controls keypads and receivers are proprietary to the Ghost Controls ecosystem. A universal LiftMaster or Mighty Mule keypad will not talk to a Ghost Controls board without an aftermarket adapter, and even then, you lose features like vacation mode and party mode. When we install access control on Ghost Controls gates in Las Vegas, we use either the OEM Ghost Controls part or a verified aftermarket equivalent that matches the frequency and protocol. We carry both on the truck, and we’ll show you the label on your old part and the new one before anything gets wired in.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Access Control Installation Is Failing

Access control failures are usually gradual, not sudden. Here’s what we see most often on Ghost Controls systems around Las Vegas:

  • Keypad lights up but the gate doesn’t move. The keypad is sending a signal, but the receiver on the control board isn’t decoding it. On AXPB boards, this is often a failing receiver module or a loose accessory connector. On older GTO boards, it’s usually corrosion on the board itself.
  • You enter the code and the gate opens, but only sometimes. Intermittent response is almost always a wiring issue at the keypad, not the keypad itself. In Las Vegas, we see this a lot where sprinkler overspray has soaked the low-voltage wire. The copper corrodes inside the jacket, and the signal gets flaky.
  • The vehicle sensor opens the gate for neighbors’ cars but not yours. This points to a misaligned or failing probe, especially if your driveway sits at an angle or you park over the loop differently each day. Ghost Controls vehicle sensors are sensitive to metal mass, and a weak probe will pick up a pickup truck but miss a sedan.
  • The keypad beeps but won’t accept any code, including the master. This is usually a failed keypad memory chip. Ghost Controls keypads can lose their programming after a power surge or lightning strike. It is not fixable in the field. It is a swap.
  • Remote controls work fine, but the keypad is completely dead. Dead keypad with no lights means no power at the keypad. Check the fuse on the Ghost Controls board first. If the fuse is good, the wire run likely got cut, chewed, or yanked by desert landscaping work.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Las Vegas, you’re looking at these installed price ranges for Ghost Controls access control work:

  • Keypad replacement (OEM Ghost Controls KPW series): $180 – $280 installed. That includes the new keypad, mounting hardware, programming, and testing all codes.
  • Receiver module replacement on AXPB board: $150 – $240 installed. Sometimes the receiver is integrated into the board and the board itself needs to be replaced, which pushes the job to the higher end.
  • Vehicle sensor / loop detector installation: $250 – $485 installed. This is the widest range because it depends on whether we’re saw-cutting asphalt for a new loop or swapping an existing probe.
  • Full access control install (new keypad, receiver, and programming for up to 10 codes): $300 – $475 installed, depending on the wire run distance from keypad to control board.

Every Calder Gate Repair price is written down and agreed to before we start work. That number is the number on the invoice. If we open the box and find the wire run is short, we call you with the new price before adding anything. Every install carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the install fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

Access control installation on a Ghost Controls gate is low-voltage work, meaning you are not dealing with 120V household current. That said, the wiring path between your house, the keypad, and the control board runs alongside the gate motor’s high-voltage feed in many installations. If you open the control box and see 120V wires, leave it alone and call us. One crossed wire at the accessory connector can fry the control board, and suddenly a $200 keypad job is a $600 board replacement. What you can safely do yourself: check the fuse on the board, confirm the keypad has power, and make sure no sprinkler head is spraying directly on the keypad or wire conduit. If those check out and the keypad still won’t respond, call us at (725) 220-0280 and tell us what it’s doing, or not doing, and we’ll figure the rest out from there.
