Get your free estimateDoorKing Access Control Installation: The Las Vegas Owner’s Guide
We stock and install DoorKing-compatible access control systems across Las Vegas every week, with most installations running between $850 and $2,400 depending on whether you need a keypad, card reader, telephone entry, or a full multi-credential setup. This is not a same-day job: we measure, order the right DoorKing-compatible boards and readers, and schedule a precise arrival time so you’re never waiting on a four-hour window. Most owners discover their access control system is dying when a keypad stops responding, cards work intermittently, or the gate starts opening on its own at 2 a.m. If you’re reading this with a DoorKing product that’s acting up, you’ve probably already tried replacing batteries and reprogramming a code or two. The problem is usually deeper than that.
Which DoorKing Models This Applies To
Our technicians work on DoorKing’s 1800 series telephone entry systems, the 1812 and 1830 models, the 6000 series slide gate operators, the 9000 series swing gate operators, and the MicroPLUS and MicroCLICK receivers. The gotcha many Las Vegas homeowners hit is this: DoorKing access control boards from different series look almost identical but use different power supplies and wiring harnesses. Swapping a 1812 board into an 1800 housing will fit the enclosure, but the ribbon cable pinout is different, and you’ll cook the board the first time you connect power. When you’re identifying your unit, look for the silver DoorKing label inside the cabinet: it lists the exact model number and the board revision. DoorKing offers strong OEM boards, and we also install quality aftermarket equivalents when the OEM part is the thing that failed prematurely. For access control specifically, we lean OEM on the motherboard and let you choose on readers and keypads, where aftermarket options often match OEM build quality at a lower price.

Signs Your DoorKing Access Control Installation Is Failing
- Keypad ignores certain digits or takes repeated presses: Las Vegas heat breaks down the membrane switches inside the keypad face. Once a digit stops registering, the control board starts getting incomplete codes and refuses entry.
- Cards work for some people and not others: This is almost always the reader losing sensitivity, not the cards themselves. The DoorKing reader is a wear item in Las Vegas: sun exposure and fine dust work their way past the bezel.
- Gate opens by itself at night: We see this in areas like Summerlin and Henderson where temperature swings are wide. A failing relay on the control board shorts when the board cools down, sending an open signal the system never commanded.
- You’re replacing keypad batteries every few weeks: DoorKing keypads shouldn’t eat batteries. When they do, the keypad’s voltage regulator is failing and pulling current even when idle.
- The gate opens but won’t close unless you reboot the system: This points to the safety loop input on the access control board failing. The board thinks a vehicle is still in the loop, so it freezes the close cycle.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Las Vegas, DoorKing access control installation typically runs $850 to $2,400 fully installed. A single keypad replacement with board programming lands around $850 to $1,200. Adding a card reader plus keypad pushes you to $1,500 to $2,000. Full telephone entry replacement with a new board, keypad, and directory panel runs $1,800 to $2,400 depending on whether you need new mounting hardware and power supply work. Every quote we write in Las Vegas includes parts, labor, full system testing, and programming. You’ll get a written price before we touch a single wire, and the number on your invoice matches the number you approved. Nico Alvarez handles the final programming check on every DoorKing access control install personally. The work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if your new system fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely check: keypad batteries, obvious corrosion on visible wiring, and whether your breaker tripped. DoorKing access control boards run on low voltage, so the shock risk is minimal. What goes wrong when owners DIY: connecting a new board with the old wiring harness without checking the pinout, setting the wrong voltage jumpers, or grounding the antenna wrong. We see these exact mistakes on boards that blow within a week of installation. If you’ve already opened the cabinet and you’re looking at a board with burn marks, a swollen capacitor, or moisture damage, call us at (725) 220-0280. Tell us what it’s doing, or not doing, and we’ll figure the rest out from there.
FAQs
A DoorKing access control board in Las Vegas typically lasts 7 to 10 years, but our valley heat shortens that to 5 to 7 years when the cabinet faces direct afternoon sun. If your cabinet is mounted on a west-facing wall, expect earlier failure. Call (725) 220-0280 and we’ll check yours before it leaves you locked out.
Sometimes, yes. We can replace failed relays, solder in new capacitors, and reflash corrupted firmware on many DoorKing boards. But if the board has burnt traces or water damage, replacement is cheaper and more reliable. We’ll show you the board and explain the condition before you decide.
Most single-access-point installations take two to four hours from arrival to finished programming. Telephone entry systems with multiple units can take half a day, which we’ll tell you upfront when we quote the job.
We carry DoorKing-compatible keypads, card readers, receivers, and common control boards on our Las Vegas trucks, along with parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls. If we don’t have your exact board revision, we order it and lock in your install date before the part arrives. Estimates are free: call (725) 220-0280.
