Meet the Las Vegas Team Behind Calder Gate Repair Las Vegas

Most gate repair companies in Las Vegas send a different technician every time. You never know who’s pulling up. That’s not how we work. Our crew is small on purpose: four people who know this city, know its gates, and know each other’s work. We’re the team that shows up when your gate stops closing at 11 p.m. on a Tuesday in Summerlin, or when your opener grinds itself to death during a 112-degree afternoon in Henderson. Nico Alvarez built this crew one hire at a time, and every one of them works to the same written standard. No exceptions.

Our People

Nico Alvarez, Owner & Lead Gate Technician

Nico founded Calder Gate Repair Las Vegas in 2009 after a decade in commercial access control in Nevada. He still runs service calls most days and has no interest in being the owner who just answers emails. His specialty is diagnosing intermittent opener failures, the kind where the gate works fine when you test it but fails the moment you drive away. He’s factory-trained on LiftMaster, FAAC, and DoorKing systems and has a habit of explaining things in ways that actually make sense. When he’s not chasing a short in a loop detector, he’s rebuilding a 1972 Land Cruiser in his garage, slowly. Nico answers the phone when the team is buried, and he’s on site for every repair that comes back for a second look.

Marcus T., Senior Installer

Marcus has been hanging gates since before Nico hired him in 2016. He came from a fabrication shop in North Las Vegas, so he understands steel, welds, and why a 280-pound gate needs real reinforcement at the hinge points. He handles the heavy structural work: cantilever gates, slide gates, and any repair where the post itself has shifted out of plumb. Marcus is the one who notices the small stuff, like hairline cracks around a weld that will fail six months before they actually do. He is certified in welding and is our go-to for Viking and Elite slide gate systems. On weekends he coaches his daughter’s soccer team. His truck is always cleaner than yours.

Dana R., Service Coordinator

Dana is the voice on the phone, and she’s been with Calder since 2021. She schedules every job, tracks every technician, and sends the live arrival link before anyone leaves the shop. She knows the difference between “gate won’t open at all” and “gate opens slow in the morning,” and she’ll ask the right questions so the tech shows up with the right parts. Dana keeps a running log of every brand and model we’ve serviced in Las Vegas, so when you call about a Ghost Controls opener causing trouble, she knows if we’ve seen that exact failure in your neighborhood before. She’s a Henderson native and memorizes coffee orders like it’s a sport.

Jaylen M., Apprentice Technician

Jaylen started with us in 2023 and is already running diagnostics on his own, under Nico’s supervision. He’s training on FAAC and BFT hydraulic systems, which are common in older guard-gated communities around Las Vegas. Jaylen is methodical to a fault: he labels every wire, photographs every connection, and asks a lot of questions. That’s exactly what we want in an apprentice. He’s also the one who catches documentation inconsistencies before a job is marked complete. Outside of work, Jaylen is a competitive bowler. Don’t challenge him unless you’re serious.

One Standard, Every Job

Every Calder Gate Repair location operates under The Relay Standard, and the Las Vegas team takes the name seriously. It is a step-by-step process that governs every job, from the first call to the final photo. Here’s what that looks like when our crew arrives: a live, trackable arrival time sent before we leave the shop, a uniformed technician who introduces himself, and a written price before any work starts. Not an estimate scribbled on a clipboard. Not a handshake. A written number that is agreed to at the door. That number is the invoice, no surprises. We photograph the repair before and after so you can see exactly what changed. You pay from a digital invoice link, from your phone, no paper chasing. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails, Calder returns at no charge. That promise is written on every job, and every technician on this page is accountable to it. It’s not a marketing line. It’s a standard we rebuild toward every single day.
